This is my second time in knowplace as a co-.moderator and I am enjoying every second of it. The interactions made, the ideas shared and the knowledge produced there are quite something.
Could this have been possible without an internet connection? I don’t think so.
A couple of years ago, if you had mentioned to me that in 2006 people from the 5 continents would be getting in touch and learning with and from each other on a weekend without even setting foot from their homes, I would have probably doubted it. My scepticism would not have been about the people that would be willing to give up their spare time to learn, but about the fact that they would be too far apart to get in touch with each other.
The fact is that today we don’t even think of that anymore, because getting in touch with the world in a twinkling of an eye became something quite natural in our lives.
Could you now carry on in your daily activities without an internet connection? Probably not! I think I would have a hard time…and I do when the internet connection fails.
…and thinking that in my college years – only a decade ago – I didn’t even have a cell-phone…!
